THE MYSTERY OF THE PAPERBACK COLLECTION
This is a collection of illustrated book covers made for some of the novels written by Agatha Christie, specifically featuring her most famous character, Hercule Poirot.
I had designed illustrated book covers for 4 Agatha Christie novels as part of a project in NABA, Milan. The goal of this project was to see if we could take 4 books with different plotlines and still make them fit a central theme.
I decided to expand on this project later on and make a larger number of book covers. I wanted to see if I could make multiple books fit the same theme and still look cohesive and part of a collection. The end result was 10 book covers for various Hercule Poirot mystery novels. The books were chosen either at random or based on the popularity of them.
Blue, red and beige were chosen as the primary colours of my colour palette, with red being used largely to symbolise the danger part of the mystery books.
Having read most of the books, I was able to make the illustrations for the cover relatable to the plot of the story, and not just according to the book title.
